Division 8 - TC8-03: Survey of Gamut Mapping Papers
Morovic & Luo (1998c)
The UniGMA, LCUSPH, CARISMA, GCUSP and LLIN methods previously described
by the authors are implemented in CIECAM97s and investigated by making
reproductions of CRT images on two printed media, which are then evaluated
in terms of accuracy. The results have shown the influence of media difference,
which is also a difference in gamut size, on the performance of GMAs. The
gamut difference between the two reproduction media, which was seven per
cent in terms lightness range, resulted in a 60 per cent change of accuracy
score range. This indicates the importance of gamut difference for the
performance of various algorithms and could be the reason for some of the
differences between previous studies. The evaluation of reproductions made
with the various GMAs suggested that the CARISMA and GCUSP algorithms again
performed best, whereby the GCUSP algorithm had a significantly smaller
variance of accuracy in terms of its scores for individual colour regions
in the test images used.
