We now have six members; three from Europe, two from USA, and one from Japan.
Established a maling alias (CIE_8_4@color.sony.co.jp) to communicate among the TC members, and opened up TC's web page (http://www.colour.org/tc8-04/) to let other people understand what this TC is working on.Katoh et al., published "Effect of ambient light on the color appearance of softcopy images: Mixed chromatic adaptation for self-luminous displays" on J. Electronic Imaging, Vol. 7, No. 4, pp794-806 (Oct. 1998), which could be a starting point of this TC's work. Remaining considerations are;
- which chromatic adaptation transformation should be applied (Hunt-Pointer-Esteves, Bradford, or others; as in Section 3.2)
- how to incorporate "incomplete adaptation" (as in Section 3.3.1),
- any possible improvements for "mixed adaptation" (as in Section 3.3.2)
- what kind of images should be used for the cross-examination (natural images, CG images, uniform patches, etc).
TC chair hopes to prepare draft experimental guideline for cross-examinations and past research survey by the end of March 1999.
